On the final Conversation of 2023, Ryan spoke with Animal Control Director Mike Mazouch. This year they took in over 1300 animals; that’s about 200 over average. While the majority of their work is with dogs and cats, Mazouch says Animal Control responds to calls about “anything four-legged, with a tail, with wings” and do a lot of equine and cattle calls. They are also in charge of dealing with injured or killed wildlife, and are responsible for all rabies testing.
In short, there’s never a dull moment at animal control! Mike shares some of his most notable moments caring for animals and explains how they work closely with several local non-profits, including Team ELITE, ACES, and FOAC.
