Before the Soap Box Derby returns to Sonora… take a ride back to 1941.
More than 80 years ago, local kids raced homemade cars down these streets—powered by gravity, ingenuity, and community pride. Crowds gathered, champions were crowned, and a simple wooden car could make you a hometown hero.
Now, the Sonora Chamber of Commerce is working to bring the Soap Box Derby back—reviving a tradition that once brought the whole community together.
